Our first game on this date was in 1941 with a 3-2 win over West Ham. 

Jump forward to the end of the century and in 1999 we opened the season against Huddersfield Town at Loftus Road. 

Stuart Wardley made his QPR debut as we made a great start to the season. Jermaine Darlington opened the scoring with a great goal before further goals from Chris Kiwomya and Gavin Peacock ensured a winning start to the season for Gerry Francis team.

Following promotion in 2004 our first game back in the Championship was at home to Rotherham with Gareth Ainsworth opening the scoring in a 1-1 draw. Georges Santos made his debut in that game

In 2010 we opened the season against Barnsley and it was the start of a special season. Neil Warnock had five debutants with Paddy Kenny, Bradley Orr, Clint Hill, Shaun Derry and Jamie Mackie all making their first start. It was a great day with Adel Taarabt tearing Barnsley apart winning a first half penalty scored by Helguson.

Jamie Mackie scored his first QPR goal in the second half before further goals from Taarabt and Fitz Hall made it a dream start to a title winning season.

In 2016 we opened the season again with a big win, this time under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink with debuts for Jake Bidwell, Olamide Shodipo and Jordan Cousins. It was a great start with Rob Green flapping at a cross to allow Nedum Onuoha scoring. Further goals from Polter and Chery helped QPR to a 3-0 win over Leeds.

In more recent times following a season of behind closed doors football the crowds were back as we faced Millwall at Loftus Road in 2021. Optimism was high with Moses Odubajo and Andre Dozzell making their debuts. Rob Dickie scored a brilliant long range goal in a hard fought 1-1 draw.
