QPR Stats 2023/24


It's been a crazy season full of ups and downs but now it's over here is a chance to look back over the year in numbers.

In 2023/34 We played 48 games, 46 in the league just the 2 in the cups. 

Our 15 wins is 2 more than we managed last season whilst our points tally of 56 is 6 more than we managed last season.

We also scored 3 more goals 49 compared to 46 in 2022/23 and conceded 13 less goals and kept 5 more clean sheets.

Birmingham City were relegated on 50 points, the highest number of points for a relegated team since Blackburn got 51 in 2016/17 and were relegated on goal difference


Clean Sheets

Asmir Begovic got 13 clean sheets across the season, the highest since Seny Dieng in 2021/22 season (14).

Top Goalscorers

Ilias Chair and Lyndon Dykes were joint top goalscorers with 7 goals, the lowest total for a top goalscorer at QPR since Loic Remy scored 6 in 2012/13 and is the 3rd lowest for a top goalscorer in our history.

Disciplinary Record

QPR got 4 Red Cards, our highest number since 2017/18 season and our 95 yellow cards is 16 more than last season. 

Jack Colback got the most yellow cards with 13 with Sam Field getting 11.

Appearances

Asmir Begovic made the most appearances with 46 in total whilst Paul Smyth, Kenneth Paal and Sam Field all featured 45 times.

Paul Smyth made the most appearances from the bench with 22 sub appearances whilst Sinclair Armstrong came off the bench 20 times.

Chris Willock was the most substituted player taken off 20 times across the season followed by Ilias Chair, Paul Smyth and Sinclair Armstrong taken off 16 times.

Albert Adomah made his final appearance for QPR. He featured 18 times this season although 15 of those were from the bench. 

Across his QPR career he has come off the bench 80 times which is the most substitute appearances of any player in the history of QPR. 

Kevin Gallen is the closest with 65 appearances from the bench.

Assists & Man of the Match

Ilias Chair got the most assists with 10 for the season, this is the 3rd time in the last 4 seasons that's Chair has got the most assists, he has also gone past Adel Taarabt in the table of most assists by a QPR player since 1988 with 44 in total. He is now 3rd in the list behind Lee Cook (52) and Kevin Gallen (56)

Ilias Chair also got the most man of the match awards from the brilliant Loft For Words website with 10 in total for the season, Sinclair Armstrong was in 2nd place with 5 motm awards. Since that website started in 2005 Chair has the most man of the match awards with 27 just ahead of Adel Taarabt with 25.

Records

Our biggest home with was 4-0 against Leeds whilst the biggest away wins the 2-0 wins at Middlesbrough and Preston.

Our biggest home defeat was 4-0 against Blackburn with the biggest away defeat being the 4-0 at Watford

The teams longest unbeaten run was just 4 games, the shortest run since 2017/18 season which was also 4.

Our longest winning run was 3 games which is the same as the previous 2 seasons.

Our longest losing run was 6 games in a row which was the worst since 2016/17, we also went 12 games without a win which was slightly better than the 13 game run last season but not the king of thing we ever want to repeat again.

Managers

There was quite a difference in the record of our two managers this season which i don't think is going to surprise anybody, there respective records are below

Only Mark Warbuton and Mick Beale have a higher win percentage than the 37% that Cifuentes has achieved since the Neil Warnock promotion season.

Attendance

QPR ended the season with an average home attendance of 1,718 in the league which is the highest second tier average since 1969/70 (17,525). 

In between those seasons we've played 28 seasons at this level. An incredible effort.
